School for Beginning Dairy and Livestock Farmers
This center, based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, provides the opportunity for motivated individuals to educate themselves about grass-based dairying. It offers specialized training through traditional classroom activities, hands-on internships, farm tours of previous graduates' grass-based dairies, and emphasizes the business and financial planning knowledge required to run a successful dairy business. Classroom instruction at the school runs from the middle of November through the end of March — students typically participate in internships from April through July, though those dates are often flexible. It is the only program of its kind in the nation, and one of the best resources for an education in grass-based dairying.


Babcock Institute for International Research and Development
The Babcock Institute creates customized dairy short courses for international and domestic producers, technicians and managers. It provides research reports on a variety of dairy producer topics. It also offers the Wisconsin Dairy Artisan Research Program, a joint program of the Babcock Institute, the Department of Food Science at the University of WI-Madison, and the WI Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. The University of Wisconsin Center for Dairy Profitability develops, coordinates, and conducts effective interdisciplinary educational and applied research programs emphasizing business management, human resource management, production systems, finance and marketing systems that enhance dairy profitability. Cornell University Dairy Management Program
Cornell University’s Dairy Management Program is designed for students, dairy farmers, agri-business people and others who have an interest in dairy farm management. It works to gain further understanding of the integration and application of dairy farm management principles and programs with respect to progressive dairying and related industries.

Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research
The WI Center for Dairy Research, located on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, is one of the premiere dairy research centers in the United States . Building on Wisconsin ’s tradition as the nation’s Dairy State , the Center’s research program focuses on cheese, dairy ingredients and dairy safety and quality.
